Get Acquainted : Michael L. Hetzel, VP/Americas
 Based at our Americas Headquarters in Chicago, USA, Michael joined Pro QC in March of 2002 following 18 years in manufacturing, including 9 years as CEO of a precision injection molding and metal stamping company. During his tenure as CEO, he opened several export markets, initiated selective outsourcing of injection molds from Singapore and grew the company 480% prior to its sale to a public company.
Raised in the Chicago suburbs, Michael has also lived in Boulder, Colorado and San Francisco, California and says he moved back to the Chicago area because “it’s simply a great place to live.”
Michael’s responsibilities at Pro QC include management of our three U.S. offices and all marketing and operations in North and Latin America, along with directly managing a number of client accounts and special projects such as production of the Pro QC promotional video (visit www.proqc.com). He also directs the Global Marketing Team and works closely with virtually all aspects of the company.
When asked what he enjoys most about working at Pro QC, Michael states “I enjoy the global diversity and related challenges very much. From verbal and email communications in operations and client care to the website and promotional materials, everything needs to be aligned and optimized to appeal in a meaningful fashion across many languages, markets and cultural orientations. And, I have the distinct privilege of working every day with the excellent group of dedicated professionals worldwide who make up the Pro QC team”
Michael is also an active public speaker, regularly presenting at conferences and at universities across the USA as well as in other countries such as Mexico, China, Hong Kong and Dubai. Over the years, he has published various articles on quality management and global trade flows and even coined the term “Strategic Overshoot” as related to outsourcing. He is a member of Federal Reserve Bank 7th District Industrial and Manufacturing Roundtables and is active on several corporate and non-profit boards of directors. Michael holds a BA degree in Political Science / International Relations from Western Illinois University.
For recreation, Michael likes to fly (and has held a pilot’s license since 1982), scuba dive, ride his Harley-Davidson, ride bicycles with his wife and son, shoot pool and enjoys a good cigar “now and then.” He’s also a leader with his son’s Cub Scout Pack and co-chair of the Economic Development Committee in the town where he lives.
Michael has made significant and invaluable contributions as a member of the Pro QC team and his staff and other co-workers all feel very fortunate to have him on the team.
